KAKIC UNIVERSE OFFICIAL LAUNCH

Everything needs an official beginning, ladies and gentlemen, this was ours!

After a several achievements and celebrating our first anniversary, we decided to make things official and have an OFFICIAL LAUNCH for our Brand!

Our Guests got an opportunity to watch Exclusive Videos that will be uploaded in the future but overally, the Kakic Universe Official Launch was a resounding success!

Preparation

After months of Preparation, the team arrived at the venue hours before the launch to put things in place and do final rehearsals. After a lot of work, we were ready to officially launch!

Show Time!

At exactly 1800hrs on the First Of June 2019, we rolled out the red carpert and our esteemed guests started pouring in! The dresscode for the Night was LOUNGE SUIT, and our guests were looking amazing!

As a tribute again to our Partner, Ebenezer Maxwell and ea records, we made a playlist of their best songs and played it for our early guests who arrived early, and they enjoyed the music!

Official Launch

Mr Archibald Marwizi, gave a warm welcome to our guests and explained to them what the Launch was about,

He spoke about the vision, what Kakic Universe will be in 10 Years,

“10 years from now, you will look back on this day and say I was there, when we are celebrating the success of Kakic Universe as a larger company, now without wasting anymore of your time, i give you the Kakic Universe Official Launch,”

As a tribute to our last public performance at THE UNVEILING OF THE STARS, we repeated our intro, Lights off, Bouquet on Screen, emerging from the dark then Anson Mashingaidze set the stage on Fire again!

Kudakwashe Maxwell then Introduced himself and Mr Marwizi, and their roles within Kakic.

Kuda started Narrating the story of Kakic Universe, and elaborating more on the reason behind the launch!

As we started on our journey, a lot of people gave us the impression that as animators we could only make content for one specific audience in the Country, but our experiences so far proved to us that we have the capacity and capability to make content that is appealing to the various audiences of Zimbabwe.

We started the post by doing a little throw back to our first Animation! The Life and Time Of Choice Zvenhamo! Watch it exclusively on our website below!

A beautiful Throwback! We then proceeded to play a fan favourite, Jah Kaylite, and explained that the video is part of the Choice Zvenhamo Story and Universe, and we would be releasing the new wave and direction in the future, we also explained how Jah Kaylite is popular because people tend to enjoy more, content that is in their own language and closer to home. Furthermore, our first 2 videos for the night, Bouquet, and Choice Zvenhamo, are a clear example of how Diverse the audience in Zimbabwe is and animation is a powerful tool to uniting the different audiences we have! Bring on the Poetry!

As Kakic Universe, we also have a desire to see other young creatives rising up into the spotlight and we would like to see a lot of them working together through collaborations. As story tellers, we understand that we can not tell everybody’s story! So why not bring in everyone and let them tell their story and we simply illustrate it! We brought in 2 amazing poets/spoken word artists,

Lennox Makurumidze a.k.a The Unspoken, performed his hit piece titled, Dear African Generation where he comments on the importance of embracing culture and not forsaking it in an attempt to be “lit” or “porsche”.

Some aspects of our African Culture are beautiful and teach us important values such as respect towards our elders and respect to others,

We wont spoil much of his piece because we are working on a video for it and it will be released sometime in the future so watch out for that one!

Before Hey Hey Preacher‘s performance we played a video we made in collaboration with him based of his piece called, “Musandivharire Panze”.

Leonard Mukwenga a.k.a Hey Hey Preacher, performed 2 of his pieces,

No Words but communicating!

Another fun thing to do with Animation is to communicate a message without saying a single word! After the powerful poetry session we played 2 videos which have no dialogue, we premiered LOVE AND MURDERED, based on the amazing music piece by Ebenezer Maxwell of ea records! We will be releasing the video in the future so stay tuned for that one as well!

Our second video was an old one, of our first, MEMORIES, that we uploaded on our Youtube Channel on the 7th Of June 2017, but has been taken down with intention of re-uploading.

One can use Animation to spread an Idea or encourage a way of thinking, The Battle Zimbabwe Trailer illustrates this point well,

It would be wonderful to have a world where crucial decisions and matters such as politics and others are not based on mob psychology or going with what everyone else is going but instead we could have a more brilliant world if everyone took time to think about their decisions and the impacts they have in the future.

After Kuda Explained this, we went on to play the trailer for Battle Zimbabwe

Animation can further be used to advocate and speak up for those who are voiceless or have no platform to be heard!

We then played the video we made in solidarity with Two Apart based on their poem Dear Mister Slave Master.

Untouchable The Super Christian

The main treat for our Audience, a sneak peak of a full episode and the story for Our First Major Project, UNTOUCHABLE THE SUPER CHRISTIAN!,

Before we played the video Kuda Explained that we are a Company based of Christian Values and we would like to see more Christian Content that is Engaging, Fun and High Quality.

We Took a Moment to appreciate the cast and crew that we worked with on this first production. Back then we did not have anything tangible to show in terms of success or material but these people decided to trust Kuda and help him with Untouchable and that helped Kakic start and we played the Untouchable Trailer at numerous Functions, such as:

As Kakic Universe, we are very much indebted to the first cast and greatly appreciated them, We asked those who were present to come to the front and asked the audience to give a roaring round of applause for them as well as the cast members in absentia,

Most of the Cast were away due to school in other countries but we still appreciate their input

After the appreciation, the audience then got the honour of being the very first audience to watch Untouchable the Super Christian the first Episode.

Mr Manyika, then introduced our Guest of Honour for the Night, Mr Peter Churu, who was standing in for the Director of the Theatre in the Park, Mr Daves Guzha.

Mr Churu then congratulated Kuda and the Team on the Launch, and also everyone who stood with them on their journey up until this point!

He also spoke on the need for Local Content Creators to tell our stories as Zimbabweans and Africans as he was giving praise to Untouchable, Choice Zvenhamo and Jah Kaylite.

He Then Tipped Kakic Universe to dominate the Coming TV stations to be introduced by The Government.

As we closed the Function, the audience gave Kuda and the team a Standing Ovation for a fantastic Job.

And with that Ladies and Gentlemen, KAKIC UNIVERSE, was officially launched!

Now we focus on the future!

The Gweru Chronicles Part 2, Endorsement from a Minster, fan approval and more!

Hello There! My Name is Kudakwashe and I am the founder and Current Executive Chief Technical Officer for KAKIC universe.

If you read the first part of this story then go ahead and carry on to the second part, if you haven’t, i highly recommend that you do, here’s the link to the first part of this story so you can catch up:

Part A- GIBF

Surely by now you must definitely be familiar with Mr Archibald Marwizi! The Man who played a crucial role in inviting me to the 29th Day of the One Hundred Days of learning Link here:

So you should definitely know him by now!

So Mr Marwizi decided to Host a book Festival together with his Associate, Mr Ignatius Musonza. The festival was to be called the Gweru International Book Festival- G.I.B.F.

Simply Put, it was to be a festival celebrating literal arts, something lik HIFA, but more on literature. The City of Gweru had never seen or experienced an Event of this kind and size, and many organisations rushed to be part of it, and you probably guessed it, Mr Marwizi Created space for me at GIBF 2017, as well!

For those of you who are not familiar with Gweru, its sort of a slow town, small, and you can literally memorise the faces of people and the places where they work because its that small in terms of size.

So GIBF was to be hosted right in the middle and attract everyone from the older to the younger generations, people of all races and kind to come celebration Zimbabwe’s digital Literacy.

Trust me when i say this! Mr Archibald Marwizi, is truly a brilliant man! The Function/show/festival was a resounding success! Schools poured in and a lot of stakeholders engaged and participated in the festival.

From Renowned authors and established brands to the new and upcoming brands like Kakic Universe, the 3 day festival was amazing!

To be honest with you, i was simply satisfied to be able to exhibit at such a function at such an early stage of my career, just having my logo be printed on the banner of the participating stakeholders was amazing! But little did i Know that God, had bigger plans for me!

What actually happened?

So basically you would purchase space and get to exhibit your work to the public. During the festival, the public would then tour all the stands and engage the exhibitors and their exhibitions.

WHO ATTENDED AND WHO PARTICIPATED?

A lot of big brands, a lot of authors and craftsmen, even social welfare organisations. The festival also had a stage and MSU sponsored Musical Equipment so there were many performances from many Local Gweru artists and celebrities.

At that time, the Minister of Education was Honourable Doctor Lazarus Dokora and he was invited to be the Guest of Honour to officially open the Gweru International Book Festival. The Mayor of Gweru was also present as well as many other important people.

Truly Speaking, The Festival was amazing! Mr Marwizi and Mr Musonza really did a great job in pulling off this funciton! For more on the GIBF 2017, check out their Facebook Page below:

You can find more on the festival there in terms of content and pictures! Now lets continue with Kakic Universe’s story.

At this point i was lectuing at MSU and the Media Department was also exhibiting there. However, i was not exhibiting with them.
At that we had added a few more videos to our collection and so we were ready to exhibit our work and show the public, as well as gain some followers in the midlands Province!

Part B- Public Engagement- The Fans!

I was thrilled and delighted as my stand/space caught the attention of many and most of the School Children which is what i was aiming for. In most cases, School children would spend the whole day watching my videos, in most cases they would leave the stand only when chased away by other students who wanted a turn to also view the content!

All of this was just fantastic for me! I was on cloud 9, Those kids and their expressions made me feel like the coolest thing alive, which was something i really needed because i was still battling the negative comments i received from naysayers. So you can imagine how it feels like being told that you wont succeed because your career is not good enough and an industry doesnt exist for it then you meet these beautiful souls who abosulutely adore and love your work just the way it is,

Which Videos did we play?

We Played the following videos on our Stand:

Without a doubt, Jah Kaylite, was the most popular video, generating numerous requests for replays and the young kids singing” Mari Kunevanogeza”

And trust me with each request for a repeat, i felt proud,

I loved how my work was bringing Joy to the young souls of Zimbabwe, even the older Generation was captivated by Dancehall sensation, Jah Kaylite

As if the great feedback from the crowd was not enough, The MSU, media team interviewed me and Kakic Universe

PART C- Growing The Team

So up to this point, you might have noticed that the story was centered around me and only features Mr Marwizi but no one else, and thats because at the time there was no else but that changed at GIBF.

As part of the Organising team, i managed to meet Michelle Maphosa, Shamiso Chikarate and Anson Mashingaidze.

We worked together so well that i invited them to come work with us and they agreed forming the first ever KAKIC UNIVERSE SQUAD!

Part D - The Honourable Minister Arrives

As mentioned above, the Honourable Minister of Education at that time period, Honourable Miinister Doctor Lazarus Dokora was the Guest of Honour and was to officially open the Gweru International Book Festival.

The Minister Delivered a speech on the importance of recognising and celebrating Digital Literacy in the Country.

Afterwards he then started touring each stand exhibitor seeing what they had to offer.

It is then that it happened.

I got the pleasure to meet the minister and show him my work. When he found out that i was teaching at university level at 19 Years of age, he was greatly impressed and he endorsed me and Kakic Universe, and urged me to keep going forward as well as aiming higher!

This was just the icing on the cake! Within a short space of time, God had elevated me to a “lecturer” who was endorsed by a minister.

The Endorsement by the minister silenced most of the naysayers. Kakic Universe started gaining more support and appreciation. More people started appreciating the art and encouraging me to go forward. God Knew what he was doing and he was carefully putting the pieces together.

This enounter with the minister and the words of encouragement he gave me where a huge confidence boost.

GIBF was an awesome Experience for me! It helped me gain confidence in what i was doing and i am grateful for God’s Grace and what he has done for me.

Conclusion for the Gweru Chronicles

After this amazing experience i then turned down the opportunity to continue lecturing as i wanted to focus more on Building the Kakic Universe Team, the brand and also raising school fees. The Gweru Chronicles were an amazing time for me and helped me gain confidence in my career choice.

It was fun and amazing and i am forever grateful to God for his grace and favour over my life!
