Official Launch- One year later!

On the first of June 2019, we officially launched our brand at the Alliance Francais old mutual theatre in Harare, Zimabwe.

We showcased our work, our art and our vision, this event was us officially announcing our presence to the world, everything in life needs an official beginning, this was ours!

One Year Later, whats new?

Kakic Universe Entertainment: (The side that produces content for entertainment)

We promised to start releasing more entertainment work as in our second year we had prioritised the business work (commercials and marketing campaigns). And we managed to delivere on our promise!

We stepped up our game to deliver work of a higher standard and quality! We managed to attract more local and international clients. Below are just some examples of some of the best work we’ve done so far!

Some recognition

After the official launch, we got an award for the BEST BUSINESS IN TECHNOLOGY, by Ignite Youth Organisation , a youth organistion dedicated to shaping and encouraging African young people to emergence and a life of purpose. Kuda, happens to be a member of the organisation and also the media team leader. Ignite showed its support by having its program leaders attend the official launch in their numbers!

KAKIC UNIVERSE OFFICIAL LAUNCH

Everything needs an official beginning, ladies and gentlemen, this was ours!

After a several achievements and celebrating our first anniversary, we decided to make things official and have an OFFICIAL LAUNCH for our Brand!

Our Guests got an opportunity to watch Exclusive Videos that will be uploaded in the future but overally, the Kakic Universe Official Launch was a resounding success!

Preparation

After months of Preparation, the team arrived at the venue hours before the launch to put things in place and do final rehearsals. After a lot of work, we were ready to officially launch!

Show Time!

At exactly 1800hrs on the First Of June 2019, we rolled out the red carpert and our esteemed guests started pouring in! The dresscode for the Night was LOUNGE SUIT, and our guests were looking amazing!

As a tribute again to our Partner, Ebenezer Maxwell and ea records, we made a playlist of their best songs and played it for our early guests who arrived early, and they enjoyed the music!

Official Launch

Mr Archibald Marwizi, gave a warm welcome to our guests and explained to them what the Launch was about,

He spoke about the vision, what Kakic Universe will be in 10 Years,

“10 years from now, you will look back on this day and say I was there, when we are celebrating the success of Kakic Universe as a larger company, now without wasting anymore of your time, i give you the Kakic Universe Official Launch,”

As a tribute to our last public performance at THE UNVEILING OF THE STARS, we repeated our intro, Lights off, Bouquet on Screen, emerging from the dark then Anson Mashingaidze set the stage on Fire again!

Kudakwashe Maxwell then Introduced himself and Mr Marwizi, and their roles within Kakic.

Kuda started Narrating the story of Kakic Universe, and elaborating more on the reason behind the launch!

As we started on our journey, a lot of people gave us the impression that as animators we could only make content for one specific audience in the Country, but our experiences so far proved to us that we have the capacity and capability to make content that is appealing to the various audiences of Zimbabwe.

We started the post by doing a little throw back to our first Animation! The Life and Time Of Choice Zvenhamo! Watch it exclusively on our website below!

A beautiful Throwback! We then proceeded to play a fan favourite, Jah Kaylite, and explained that the video is part of the Choice Zvenhamo Story and Universe, and we would be releasing the new wave and direction in the future, we also explained how Jah Kaylite is popular because people tend to enjoy more, content that is in their own language and closer to home. Furthermore, our first 2 videos for the night, Bouquet, and Choice Zvenhamo, are a clear example of how Diverse the audience in Zimbabwe is and animation is a powerful tool to uniting the different audiences we have! Bring on the Poetry!

As Kakic Universe, we also have a desire to see other young creatives rising up into the spotlight and we would like to see a lot of them working together through collaborations. As story tellers, we understand that we can not tell everybody’s story! So why not bring in everyone and let them tell their story and we simply illustrate it! We brought in 2 amazing poets/spoken word artists,

Lennox Makurumidze a.k.a The Unspoken, performed his hit piece titled, Dear African Generation where he comments on the importance of embracing culture and not forsaking it in an attempt to be “lit” or “porsche”.

Some aspects of our African Culture are beautiful and teach us important values such as respect towards our elders and respect to others,

We wont spoil much of his piece because we are working on a video for it and it will be released sometime in the future so watch out for that one!

Before Hey Hey Preacher‘s performance we played a video we made in collaboration with him based of his piece called, “Musandivharire Panze”.

No Words but communicating!

Another fun thing to do with Animation is to communicate a message without saying a single word! After the powerful poetry session we played 2 videos which have no dialogue, we premiered LOVE AND MURDERED, based on the amazing music piece by Ebenezer Maxwell of ea records! We will be releasing the video in the future so stay tuned for that one as well!

Our second video was an old one, of our first, MEMORIES, that we uploaded on our Youtube Channel on the 7th Of June 2017, but has been taken down with intention of re-uploading.

One can use Animation to spread an Idea or encourage a way of thinking, The Battle Zimbabwe Trailer illustrates this point well,

It would be wonderful to have a world where crucial decisions and matters such as politics and others are not based on mob psychology or going with what everyone else is going but instead we could have a more brilliant world if everyone took time to think about their decisions and the impacts they have in the future.

After Kuda Explained this, we went on to play the trailer for Battle Zimbabwe

Animation can further be used to advocate and speak up for those who are voiceless or have no platform to be heard!

We then played the video we made in solidarity with Two Apart based on their poem Dear Mister Slave Master.

Untouchable The Super Christian

The main treat for our Audience, a sneak peak of a full episode and the story for Our First Major Project, UNTOUCHABLE THE SUPER CHRISTIAN!,

Before we played the video Kuda Explained that we are a Company based of Christian Values and we would like to see more Christian Content that is Engaging, Fun and High Quality.

We Took a Moment to appreciate the cast and crew that we worked with on this first production. Back then we did not have anything tangible to show in terms of success or material but these people decided to trust Kuda and help him with Untouchable and that helped Kakic start and we played the Untouchable Trailer at numerous Functions, such as:

As Kakic Universe, we are very much indebted to the first cast and greatly appreciated them, We asked those who were present to come to the front and asked the audience to give a roaring round of applause for them as well as the cast members in absentia,

Most of the Cast were away due to school in other countries but we still appreciate their input

After the appreciation, the audience then got the honour of being the very first audience to watch Untouchable the Super Christian the first Episode.

Mr Manyika, then introduced our Guest of Honour for the Night, Mr Peter Churu, who was standing in for the Director of the Theatre in the Park, Mr Daves Guzha.

Mr Churu then congratulated Kuda and the Team on the Launch, and also everyone who stood with them on their journey up until this point!

He also spoke on the need for Local Content Creators to tell our stories as Zimbabweans and Africans as he was giving praise to Untouchable, Choice Zvenhamo and Jah Kaylite.

He Then Tipped Kakic Universe to dominate the Coming TV stations to be introduced by The Government.

As we closed the Function, the audience gave Kuda and the team a Standing Ovation for a fantastic Job.

And with that Ladies and Gentlemen, KAKIC UNIVERSE, was officially launched!

KAKIC UNIVERSE OFFICIAL LAUNCH COMING SOON!

We are excited to announce our official launch that is coming on the first of June 2019!

We are excited to officially launch our brand! We will reflect on our journey so far and share our vision for the future! Its going to be a prestigious red carpet event.

The launch will be hosted by the man who started it all:

Kudakwashe Maxwell will be hosting everyone and will take the audience through the journey and wonderful experience of the official launch!

The launch will also help Kakic Universe gain a bit more visibility in the industry.

A large portion of the invited guests are mainly fellow creatives we would like to work with, so we are showing them the vision and promise that KAKIC UNIVERSE holds.

Its been a long journey since we’ve first started but a lot of things back then were experiments and unofficial things, Now that we have direction and now know what exactly we want and how to do what we need.

We are excited about the launch!

First Ever Interview, Kakic Universe Television Debut! Live on YGT

First Ever Interview! Live on YGT!

Zimbabwean Local National Television Station, ZBC TV, broadcasts a show called YGT, which stands for Young Gifted and Talented. The aim of the show is to gather and identify Young Gifted People within the borders of Zimbabwe and give them a platform to shine on Television.

In support of his Son, Kuda’s father, Mr Maxwell took on the task to surprise his son and get him a radio interview, but the outcome of his efforts were far better than he had anticipated, Kuda was invited to be a special guest on the TV programme, YGT.
This episode aired on the 23rd of July.

YGT brings in 3 Guests. (2 Guests who battle and perform their art/music afterwards the viewers vote for their favourite artist.

The Main Guest -Usually referred to as the Special Guest Lounge section of the show), is interviewed about their craft and then given some screen-time to either perform or showcase their work.

Kuda was the Special Guest for the Guest Lounge section of this edition.

After Kuda’s Interview, they went on to play some of our work and it was broadcast nation wide to Zimbabwe’s millions of viewers!

This led to an increase in Following for our social media platforms and our work.

This interview is special because it was the very first Time our work as KAKIC UNIVERSE, aired on National Television! Such a milestone should never be forgotten!

One can only imagine the excitement and Joy Kuda Felt being interviewed on National Television with millions of viewers tuning in. Without many achievements to brag about other than the fact that he had taught himself what he knew and the few videos he had managed to create, this Television interview also played a vital step in boosting Kuda’s Confidence in his journey.

INTRODUCING KAKIC UNIVERSE AT THE 29TH DAY OF THE ONE - HUNDRED DAYS OF LEARNING (O.D.O.L) HOSTED BY AGE OF WONDERLAND

On The 7th of July 2017, Mr Archibald Marwizi facilitated the 29th day of the 100 Days of Learning sponsored by Hivos, Baltan Laboratories and the Dutch Design Foundation.

The One hundred Days Of Learning (ODOL) Is an initiative by Age Of Wonderland

According to their website, this is the description of what ODOL is about:

100 Days of Learning is the 2017 program of knowledge-platform Age of Wonderland, a global learning event to exchange valuable life experiences with peers.

Age of Wonderland invited innovators, scientists, engineers, artists, designers, social entrepreneurs and thinkers from around the world to share their stories and ideas from their own personal experience and practice. In order to rediscover knowledge, challenge beliefs, and exchange life experiences with others. To make the world a better place, we need to embrace change on an individual level, and to inspire others to do the same.

100 Days of Learning is the 2017 program of knowledge-platform Age of Wonderland, a global learning event to exchange valuable life experiences with peers.

The Age of Wonderland team has selected the proposals for the 100 Days of Learning. Participants become part of the global Age of Wonderland network and will receive a small stipend to carry out their Day of Learning. The so called teachers will be given feedback relating to content, communication and production of their Day of Learning.

Mr Marwizi Facilitated the 29th Day of learning at the Gweru Memorial Library, in Gweru, Zimbabwe with the theme, Turning the Negative into fuel for Success.

It was a very informative and educative program, were Mr Marwizi shared on how the most despicable acts in Human history are slavery and colonialism and how we must turn the painful and emotional lessons into fuel for success.

Kudakwashe Maxwell was then called up to present the vision and idea of KAKIC UNIVERSE, to the people present at the function.

It was a lively and entertaining presentation, sparking the interests of all participants of the program.

This was the first ever public presentation by Kudakwashe, on anything related to Kakic Universe, and its vision. As a young boy coming straight out of high school, the level of ambition and hope he exhibited was remarkable. The audience was amazed and inspired by the young man’s vision and confidence and encouraged him to keep moving forward. Some members even went as far as make some donations to Kuda’s School Fees! As for Kudakwashe, he got a confidence boost as he was heading in a career path which is not regarded as ordinary or familiar territory in the eyes of Zimbabwe, the successful presentation and amazing feedback encouraged Kudakwashe, to keep pursuing the vision that is KAKIC UNIVERSE.
